"I was assigned to Beatriz Lira as my State Farm insurance agent, but based on her Yelp reviews, she wouldn’t have been on my list of choices. Unfortunately, my experience with her office has been nothing short of appalling. Most of my interactions were with Melissa, as Beatriz is rarely available. Right from the beginning, they dropped the ball by failing to contact my mortgage company when I set up my homeowners insurance—something that was entirely their responsibility. They were supposed to provide my lender with crucial documents, like the insurance policy and proof of payment, to meet my lender’s requirements. Things took a turn for the worse when they failed to notify my lender about any changes to my insurance policy, including a switch to a new insurance company. As a result, my lender continued to charge me for home insurance while I was paying State Farm. When I reached out to Beatriz’s office to discuss this urgent issue and shared my lender’s details, they only agreed to contact my lender after a tense conversation where they insisted it was my job to sort it out. Despite their promises to keep me updated, I received no follow-up. Two months later, realizing I was still being billed, I called again, only to find Beatriz MIA again. Melissa insisted they had no responsibility to inform my lender and talked over me, dismissing my concerns. After reviewing my receipts, I discovered that my lender had sent State Farm premiums directly from the escrow account. When I confronted Melissa about the lack of communication, follow-up, and solutions for my specific issues, she continued to blame the lender and me. Feeling frustrated, I contacted my lender and discovered that Beatriz had issued a policy that didn’t meet my lender’s requirements, which prompted the need for a supplemental policy from them. This entire ordeal raises a critical question: What’s the point of having an agent if I have to handle all the coordination, follow-ups, and risk assessments independently? Consequently, I’ve decided to return to my previous agent at Farmers Insurance. While it might cost a bit more, I’m more than willing to pay the difference for the peace of mind that comes from having a knowledgeable, responsive, and solution-oriented agent. *NB: This is a follow-up to my initial review. The day after I posted it, Melissa reached out to confirm that I was correct about the double premiums I paid for my home insurance. It turned out that the lender had sent a check to State Farm covering my home insurance premiums, and it was their oversight not to reflect that in my billing. As a result, my bill for next month will only include the premiums for my auto insurance since my home insurance has already been paid. If Melissa had taken the time to listen to my concerns and collaborated with me to find a solution instead of dismissing them, I would likely still be a client today. Unfortunately, I’ve had to cancel my insurance with them and State Farm and revert to my previous agent. While I initially switched to State Farm seeking a better rate, I’ve realized that I am more than willing to pay a bit more for an agent at Farmers who is effective, empathetic, and truly solution-oriented."
